Since the war began last week with Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, the Emirates has waived all visa overstay fees for Iranians stranded in the country. On Tuesday, the Emirati ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, called the Iranian president to express “solidarity with Iran and its people during these challenging times.”

The Israeli military said its air force struck a plant that manufactures centrifuges in Tehran for Iran’s nuclear program. Israel says the program is aimed at developing nuclear weapons while Iran says it is peaceful.

Iran is firing fewer missiles at Israel each day, suggesting Tehran’s capabilities are being limited by Israeli attacks, or it is conserving what it has left. Israel says one reason is that it has destroyed more than a third of Iran’s launchers.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned on Wednesday that direct U.S. military assistance to Israel could radically destabilise the situation in the Middle East, where an air war between Iran and Israel has raged for six days.
