Wednesday’s power breakfast didn’t produce a sweep of the Brewers, but the Guardians have still won nine of 12 series to open the season. Thursday is an off day, a day to hit the snooze button three or four extra times. Still, the Guards need some energy to pack for a 10-game trip to Cincinnati, Minneapolis and Detroit that begins Friday.

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday night. Rogers was in the Mud Hens’ starting lineup, batting leadoff, for the game in Scranton, Pa. He has been on the injured list since April 8 with a left oblique strain suffered while swinging in the batting cage.

He is inheriting an incredible amount of talent, headlined by two bona fide stars in the front seven: defensive tackle Peter Woods, one of the most impactful players in the country, and edge rusher T.J. Parker, who has a chance to be selected early in the 2026 NFL Draft as well.
