With snow expected to fall in parts of Massachusetts Wednesday night — delivering as much as 3 inches before turning into a wintry mix and rain Thursday — some schools have already delayed opening and some have even decided to close.

Most D.C.-area schools are expected to open on time Thursday, but a few districts announced two-hour delays after the region was hit with the season’s second-biggest snowstorm. About 4 to 6.5 inches of snow fell in the Beltway area,

School closings and delays seemed like a certainty Wednesday morning, with snow falling across central Pennsylvania. Around 2 inches fell around Harrisburg and closer to 4 inches blanketed parts of southern York County.
