Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar were named Wednesday as two of the three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award. The award, voted on by the members of the NHL Players’ Association, is for “the most outstanding player.” MacKinnon won the award last season. He would be the first player to repeat since Connor McDavid won in 2017 and 2018.

Makar has been named a finalist for the Norris Trophy for the fifth time in his career. The other defensemen in NHL history who have been a finalist five times in their first six seasons are Bobby Orr, Brad Park and Dennis Potvin.

Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has a chance to become a repeat Norris Trophy recipient. On Tuesday, the NHL named Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets as finalists for the award.

Blackwood allowed fluky goals in the first and last minutes of the opening period Monday night in a Game 5 loss. His Colorado Avalanche had a chance to come back after spotting the Dallas Stars the first three goals, but he spent the third period watching from the bench after allowing five goals on 18 shots.

Wyatt Johnson scored off of the opening draw just nine seconds into the game and the Dallas Stars never looked back as they handled the Colorado Avalanche 6-2 in Game 5.
