Officials said the father was stabbed first, and the mother took her children to safety before returning to help her husband.

Maj. Stacie Rhoads told 5NEWS it does not appear the suspect had a connection to the victims, Clinton and Cristen Brink.

"Clinton and Cristen died heroes protecting their little girls, and they deserve justice," the Brink family said.

Police gave a lengthy update on how they caught the suspect in the double stabbing deaths of two parents who were visiting Arkansas’ Devil’s Den State Park with their children.
