Families of the victims of the Air India crash gathered in Ahmedabad to receive the bodies of their loved ones from medical officials. Some spoke of the difficulties of planning formal burials, having to wait days to receive victims' remains.

Indian authorities have started handing over remains of the victims of one of India’s worst aviation disasters after identifying some through DNA tests.

Around 30 minutes before an Air India jet crashed into a college hostel in India, Ravi Thakor, the cook in the hostel canteen, and his wife stepped out to deliver lunchboxes - leaving behind their two-year-old daughter and his mother.
