The winter rumor mill isn’t exactly dying down in Houston, as the St. Lous Cardinals third baseman has been linked to Astros.

With Nolan Arenado trade talks losing traction recently, the Cardinals may begin shopping one of their veteran starting pitchers.

The St. Louis Cardinals certainly tried to trade Nolan Arenado to the Houston Astros throughout the offseason. The two sides came to terms on a deal but Arenado used his no-trade clause to shut it down.

Arenado, 33, is now “considering a potential deal to Houston” after the team improved its roster over the last couple of months, per MLB.com. In the deal that got killed in December, the Cardinals were set to send $15-20 million to the Astros for Arenado, who is owed $74 million over the next three years.

All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado only had one request if the St. Louis Cardinals traded him this offseason. Arenado told Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak he’d accept a trade to one of five teams: the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres, and Houston Astros.
