Liam Coen will not be departing the Buccaneers this offseason. While a report emerged on Tuesday that Tampa Bay was bracing for Coen to depart the franchise to become Jacksonville's head coach, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Coen has taken himself out of the running for the Jaguars job.
The Jaguars signed Lawrence to a five-year, $275 million contract extension in June 2024, one of the largest in NFL history. This season, he played in only 10 games and passed for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
But, somewhere along the line, the Glazers put their faith in general manager Jason Licht, and Licht delivered Bruce Arians, Tom Brady, a Super Bowl and five consecutive postseason appearances. Now, it’s at least worth considering whether Coen is better off sticking around Tampa Bay for another season. Why would he do that?
