An attack on a Twin Cities police officer more than a decade ago changed a family forever. The St. Paul Police Department Retirement Association says officer Felicia Reilly is the first woman to die after sustaining injuries in the line of duty at the department.

The St. Paul Police Retirement Association said Felicia Reilly is the first female St. Paul officer to die from injuries received on the job.

“It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of retired Saint Paul Police Officer Felicia Reilly, who passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025,” St. Paul police spokesperson Nikki Muehlhausen said. “Those who knew Felicia remember her as compassionate, devoted, and an inspiration to many. Felicia was a hero and she will be profoundly missed.”

According to the St. Paul Police Officers Retirement Association, Officer Reilly died from injuries she received in 2010 when she was badly beaten and suffered a brain injury.

Retired officer Felicia Reilly, 67, died on Saturday, the police department said in a Facebook post. "It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of retired Saint Paul Police Officer Felicia Reilly, who passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025," the post reads.

Family members say officer Felicia Reilly died as a result of a traumatic brain injury she sustained on duty 15 years ago.
