A series of thunderstorms swept across lower Michigan late Thursday and into early Friday morning, leaving thousands without power. The National Weather Service shows a report of a tornado southwest of Lansing,

There was a lot of straight-line wind action that did damage to homes, uprooted trees and downed power lines during the powerful storm that swept Michigan on Thursday night and Friday morning. But the National Weather Service says there were also several weak tornadoes spinning up along the storm’s leading edge.

The National Weather Service confirms that three touched down in Genesee, Livingston and Saginaw counties after overnight severe storms on Thursday.
