The New York Yankees have shut down infielder DJ LeMahieu with a calf injury, according to a report from Erik Boland of Newsday. LeMahieu had an MRI yesterday on his left calf. Said it showed a strain.

While speculation swirls over who the New York Yankees might pursue should Giancarlo Stanton and/or DJ LeMahieu miss a significant portion of the season, a few of the team’s top prospects have been making a case for an increase in playing time.

The New York Yankees have a clear need to upgrade the third base position, but it appears they aren't acting out of desperation. Even after the most recent injury to DJ LeMahieu put him on the shelf for the time being,
