The Skating Club of Boston held an emotional tribute, "Legacy on Ice," honoring victims of a tragic mid-air collision, with performances by friends and family.

Little more than a month after a tragic air disaster took the lives of 28 members of the US figure skating community, emotions were on full display Sunday in Washington, DC, for the “Legacy on Ice” tribute.

Aparicio’s father and 14-year-old brother, Franco, of Dunn Loring, Virginia, died aboard American Eagle Flight 5342 when the plane, inbound to the D.C. area from Wichita, collided with a Black Hawk helicopter on Jan.

One of the possibly most heart-wrenching performances was that of Maxim Naumov, who skated in honor of his parents, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

"Legacy on Ice," a benefit concert honoring the 67 victims who died in a midair collision in January, wrapped up in Washington, D.C., Sunday afternoon.

A "Legacy on Ice" tribute with performances by Olympians and others honored nearly 30 figure skaters, coaches and family members who were killed in January's plane crash near Washington, D.C.

Among those lending star power to the tribute/fundraiser are 1988 Olympic champion Brian Boitano and 1992 Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi.

Legacy on Ice, a skating event featuring decorated professionals, will take place Sunday in D.C. as a tribute to the victims of the Jan. 29 midair collision.
