King Charles III and Queen Camilla have endured disappointment on the opening day of Royal Ascot as their horse, Reaching High, failed to back up his status as favorite in one of the big races.

The King, 76, and Queen, 77, were back in a carriage at the annual horse race meeting — the 200th year that the Royal Procession has taken place

The King and Queen recalled the “thrill of victory” as they arrived at Royal Ascot for the opening day of the glamorous sporting event. Their Majesties led the traditional carriage procession as they swept onto the Berkshire course to loud cheers from the crowd.
