Tropical Storm Erin strengthening quickly as it continues its westward path across the Atlantic, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Erin exploded in strength and became a major storm in Atlantic waters just north of the Caribbean on Saturday, rapidly powering up from a tropical storm in a single day.

“As the week goes on, we’re focusing on the impacts from Hurricane Erin via rip currents, beach erosion, high surf, and coastal flooding,” the National Weather Service’s office in New Jersey said.
