The U.S. Department of Transportation said in a news release Wednesday its Federal Highway Administration terminated approval of the pilot for New York's Central Business District Tolling Program,

DOT Secretary Sean Duffy terminated the program, which began Jan. 5 this year and implemented tolls on vehicles entering Manhattan below 60th Street.

Duffy did not give a time frame for trying to shut down congestion pricing, saying only that federal officials would contact the state to "discuss the orderly cessation of toll operations." MTA CEO Janno Lieber said tolling would "continue notwithstanding this baseless effort to snatch those benefits away."
