President Donald Trump is abruptly leaving the Group of Seven summit, departing a day early Monday as the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies and the U.S. leader has declared that Tehran should be evacuated “immediately.
Israel and Iran have attacked each other for a fifth straight day on Tuesday with President Donald Trump urging Iranians to evacuate Tehran. Since the Israeli strikes on Friday, the two Middle Eastern rivals have exchanged blows, with Iranian officials reporting more than 220 deaths, mostly civilians, while Israel said 24 civilians had been killed.
President Trump’s early departure comes after a White House official said he had decided not to sign onto a G7 statement about Israel and Iran. In the end, he did sign it.
