House Republicans passed a federal funding bill backed by President Donald Trump largely on their own Tuesday. It also marked one of the rare occasions in recent memory that a majority of House Democrats voted against a bill that would prevent a government shutdown.

The House passed a measure Wednesday to avert a government shutdown set to begin Saturday by extending federal funding levels through September. The continuing resolution, backed by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) and President Donald Trump,

The measure passed after a massive whip effort by Republican leadership, including Trump and the White House. Nearly all Democrats opposed the resolution.
