The new government is due to be sworn in on Monday, ending the longest wait for one since World War Two. The far-right Freedom Party, which came first in September's parliamentary election with around 29% of the vote, failed to form a government last month after a centrist effort collapsed.

A three-party coalition bringing together Austria's centre right, centre left and liberals was sworn into government on Monday following five months of negotiations. The far-right Freedom Party had come first in last year's elections with just under 30 percent of the vote but had been unable to form a coalition of its own.
