Chicago residents are cleaning up after strong storms with hard rains caused flash flooding Friday, especially on the South Side.

A Chicago flash flood warning went out Tuesday night as the city experienced some of its heaviest rain since 2023. More than 4 inches fell in less than 90 minutes on the West Side.
Friday’s heavy rain caused lots of flooding on the city’s Southwest Side and neighboring suburbs, and affected residents want answers.
While some storms will start impacting the region this evening, rainfall is likely to intensify overnight. With humidity remaining at very high levels, any precipitation could quickly turn to torrential rainfall.
A flash flood warning was in effect for Chicago Friday afternoon, as drivers on I-55 were met with flooding on the highway.
