An Alabama woman was taken into custody following the death of a 3-year-old boy who police say was "forgotten" in a hot car for five hours, leading to his July 22 death.

A woman has been arrested in Alabama in connection with the death of 3-year-old Ke’Torrius “K.J.” Starkes Jr., who died last week after a state-contracted worker left him unattended in a car for several hours in the sweltering summer heat.

The child, who was in foster care, died on July 22 after being left in a vehicle. A contractor for the state’s Human Resources Department was charged with a felony on Friday.
